The other night, I caught the better part of a very interesting show on the National Geographic channel about the building of the Bank of America Tower at One Bryant Park in NYC. One of the really cool things about the construction of this building was the fact that the company shelled out extra funds to really make sure this thing was of a new generation of eco-friendly skyscrapers. Michigan State’s standout running back, Javon Ringer, has been listed as a finalist for the Maxwell Award for the Collegiate Player of the Year. Not to be confused with the Heisman Trophy, which is the greater known of all the college football individual honors, the Maxwell will be awarded on December 11th, 2008. Last year’s winner was Florida’s Tim Tebow (who also won the Heisman.) Read the rest of this entry »
While visiting Lansing, Michigan this past weekend, my friend and I decided to take an impromptu tour of the now defunct General Motors factories that once covered the city. Now, if you know anything about automotive history, you’ll know that Lansing is where over 14 million Oldsmobile’s were made, as well as many other makes of GM vehicles. With the automotive giant scaling back operations in Michigan, there have been a number of plants shut down and now in the stage of being demolished. Read the rest of this entry »
Since this past July, I have been working for a new start-up, Push Button Labs. With a focus on a variety of technologies, we have been operating in “stealth” mode for quite some time now. As of late, we are getting geared up to launch a number of products. Yesterday, our website (featuring an amazing design by Tim Aste and implementation by Rick Overman) was unveiled. For some reason, doing a design for this site was harder than others I’ve worked on in the past. Maybe I was driving myself into paralysis by wanting it to be too perfect. But, what I eventually decided I needed to do was crank something out. I did just that the other night.
I have always had solid design sense and can navigate my way around Photoshop in a very competent fashion; however, I have had my nose buried in nothing but code for the past couple of years with very little opportunity to do any graphic design. So, I had to knock the dust off.
As I was working on a design for this site, I wanted to created something slightly edgy with lots of potential for change down the road. Since my goal with SeanASullivan.com is to write and share a variety of things related to my life, I felt it best to take that into account. I, myself, am a very dynamic person so I needed some colors and design sense to help convey that.
Welcome to www.SeanASullivan.com! For many years I have moved from domain to domain with various projects, and it’s time to settle in on a permanent home. I thought to myself, “What could be more permanent for a domain than my actual name?” Odds are that isn’t going to change anytime soon =)
Anyways, the purpose of this site is to serve as a centralized point on the web to find out all about me and the various projects I’m working on at any given time. In other words, it will be an aggregate site all about Sean A Sullivan. Here, I will pull content from other sites and various social networks so you can get the complete picture as you desire.
It may take some time before I get moving on this project as I’m really busy with work and other things, but stay tuned and we’ll get there in time. Also, be sure to subscribe to the RSS feed so you know when things are happening.
Until next time!
P.S. You can also get here by typing seansulli.com (wanted to stick with my full name for the formal domain).
